What is Medroxyprogesterone?
It is a progestin (a practice of progesterone), a female hormone that helps regulate ovulation (the discharge of an egg from an ovary) and menstrual periods. Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat conditions like absent or non-regular menstrual periods, or abnormal uterine bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to decrease the hazard of endometrial hyperplasia (a state that may lead to uterine cancer) while taking estrogens. How should Medroxyprogesterone be taken?
Take Medroxyprogesterone exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your medicine label. Do not take this medication in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Medroxyprogesterone is commonly given for few days only in a row each month. Medroxyprogesterone Dosage

Dosage for Endometriosis: 104 mg subcutaneously once every 3 months. The 1st dosage should be given only within the first 5 days.
Dosage for Endometrial Hyperplasia – Prophylaxis: 5 to 10 mg orally once a day, as addition to estrogenic replacement treatment.
Dosage for Contraception: 150mg intramuscularly or 104mg dermatologically every three months. The first dose should be given only within the first 5 days.
Dosage for Renal Cell Carcinoma & Endometrial Carcinoma: 400mg to 1000 mg IM once a week. May reduce to as little as 400mg IM every month.
Dosage for Irregular Uterine Bleeding more than 13 years: 5mg to 10mg orally each day, starting on the 16th day of the cycle and continue for 10 days.
Dosage for Amenorrhea more than 13 years: 5mg to 10mg orally once a day beginning at any time and carry on it for 5 to 10 days.
